Prepare for an avalanche of festivity as North Creek launches into its three day-long Lights On! Holiday celebration. The fun begins Friday evening, Dec. 6 with the annual tree lighting across from the Copperfield Inn on Main Street. Immediately following, the party will move to the Tannery Pond Community Center, where you (or your kids) can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. Make sure you’ve been good, because they may be taking requests.

The next day, Saturday Dec. 7, the fun continues. Starting at noon, the North Creek Lights On! Parade will begin. Floats are set to leave the school parking lot and make their way down Main St. Several spirited businesses in North Creek will be offering cider, hot chocolate, cookies and in-store specials. The parade stops at the Johnsburgh Highway Garage. From there, all are invited to follow behind the Johnsburg Pop Singers to the ElderWood Nursing and Rehab Center to help spread Christmas joy. The Clauses may even make an appearance, so it won’t hurt to show up.

Later Saturday night, the North Country Singers, along with some very special guests, such as the JCS Jazz Band and Pop Singers, will perform their annual Holiday Celebration concert at 7:00 p.m. at the Tannery Pond Community Center. On Sunday, there will be another concert at 2:00 p.m. Featured in the event will be the Guiding Steps North Dancers and Newcomb Central School Bell Tree Ensemble. Food and refreshments will be available for those who come.

All events are free, and donations at the Holiday Celebration concerts are greatly appreciated. Proceeds will go to the Adirondack Community Outreach Center and North Country Singers.
